AROUND 30 riders from the Lothian & Borders Classic & Vintage Motorcycle Club geared up for the annual Frostbite run at the weekend.

The event has taken place on the first Sunday in January every year since the organisation was formed in 1992.

And it is the first meeting of the new year in what is always a busy calendar.

Mose Hutchison from the club told us: “It’s a really good social event to be involved with.

“We did about 20 miles on Sunday starting on the Moffat Road, then onto West Linton, Penicuik and then Leadburn.

“The distance we travel really depends on the weather. It was only about three or four degrees at the weekend, so the conditions were a bit iffy. But a lot of people turned out with their pride and joy to take part.”

Members rode a number of different classic makes and models ranging from everything from Norton and Ariel to Vincent motorcycles – many up to 30 years old.

Mose added: “The club really is like a big family.

“We’ve got about 300 members – many from around Peeblesshire and even as far down as Jedburgh and Hawick.

“Our oldest members are well into their 80s.

“We’re always looking for more members to join us and have a number of rides planned for the year.

“We love discovering different locations around Scotland and the trips can take us up the west coast, as far as Mull.

“We’ll also have a number of events on at Peebles’ Drill Hall this year, such as our motorbike show.”
