POLICE have arrested a 29-year-old man in connection with bogus workman incidents in West Linton.

The incidents happened on Monday, February 12 and Tuesday, February 13 in the Deanfoot Road area.

Detective Constable Gerard Quinn of Galashiels CID said: “I would remind the public to be vigilant and aware if someone turns up unexpectedly offering goods or services at their door.

“Bogus workmen can be very persuasive and we would remind people to never let anyone into their home if they do not have a prior appointment, or genuine identification and proof of the company they are working for.

“Be aware of anyone cold calling at your door offering to do work with payment required up front.

“By providing advice and raising awareness of these incidents we aim to strengthen our communities against doorstep crime."

Anyone with information about these incidents can contact police via 101, quoting incident number 731 of February 15, or alternatively to Crimestoppers via 0800 555 111.
