A PENSIONER has been accused of engaging an under-age teenage girl he believed to be called Kelly in sexual communication through social media.

Philip McGill pleaded not guilty to the offence which was said to have happened at his home in Bellfield Crescent, Eddleston, between July 5 and July 11.

The offence was said to have been for the purpose of the 70-year-old's sexual gratification, or the humiliation and distress of a child who had attained the age of 13 but under 16 years old.

A trial date has been fixed for April 26 at Selkirk Sheriff Court with an intermediate hearing on March 26.
