PEEBLES Community Council is seeking more locals to get involved.

Chairman, Lawrie Hayworth said: “There are many big issues in Peebles at present including the future of the March Street Mill site.

“We welcome all nominations and hope that the Community Council will represent the views of as many different individuals and backgrounds as possible.”

The group, which meets in the evening of the second Thursday of each month in the Old Burgh Chamber, is consulted on all local and central government decisions regarding the town.

And it is proactive in organising and supporting projects in the area.
Candidates must be 16 or over and their names must appear on the electoral register.

Nomination forms are available from Peebles Library, the post office in the Eastgate and by email from secretary@ccrbpeebles.co.uk.

The closing date is Tuesday, March 27 and the election, if required, will be held on Tuesday, April 17.

More details about the community council are available from http://www.peeblescommunity.org, from Peebles Community Council’s Facebook page, or by contacting the secretary.
