THE brothers of missing Frightened Rabbit singer Scott Hutchison have both taken to social media with appeals as the search continues this morning for the 36-year-old from Selkirk.

Scott hasn't been seen since leaving the Dakota Hotel in South Queensferry at around 1am yesterday morning.

The hugely-popular singer-songwriter posted two worrying tweets in the hours before his disappearance, signing off with 'I am away now. Thanks'.

Throughout yesterday and again from daybreak this morning officers have been widening the search from around where he was last seen.

And they released a video still of Scott leaving the hotel.

This morning a spokeswoman for Police Scotland told us: "An active search is ongoing and will continue throughout today until; Scott is found."

Fans of the band from around the world have sent messages of support to Scott's bandmates and family.

And hundreds from around Scotland have even offered to join in the search.

Scott's younger brother Grant, who is the drummer with Frightened Rabbit, posted his own appeal for help last night on Twitter.

He stated: "Has anyone seen my brother/bandmate/best friend?

"He’s in a very fragile state and has been missing since last night and we’re all incredibly worried.

"He was in a hotel in South Queensferry and hasn’t been seen or heard from since 1am.

"His phone is with the police. If somehow you are reading this Scott then can you just let someone know you are safe please? We love you very much."

Scott has been active on social media since the early days of Frightened Rabbit to communicate with fans and has almost 20,000 followers on his personal account.

Scott's older brother Neil, who now lives in West Linton, also took to Twitter last night.

He posted: "Please look out for my wee bro and tell your people to do the same."
