A COMEDY based on the hit television series, Yes, Prime Minister, is heading to audiences in Biggar next week.

Presented by the Biggar Theatre Workshop, this show from the original writers of the TV series, Antony Jay and Jonathan Lynn, relates the political misadventures of the hapless PM, Malcolm Muir.

The performance will centre around Malcolm as he tries to navigate a rather unexpected and altogether inappropriate request from the Kumranistan Foreign Secretary, save Europe, and keep his job.

The team are at Chequers, and with the help of his right-hand man, Sir Humphrey, performed by David Bishop, his always helpful Private Secretary, Bernard, played by Tim Wilcock, and ‘all options are on the table’ head of policy, Clare, portrayed by Anne Smart.

Director Carole Davidson told us: “We had a huge hit with ‘Allo ‘Allo last year, and this is our latest, laugh till you cry, offering. The cast have nailed the characters and rehearsals are just non-stop laughter.

“If you loved the TV series, you’ll love this stage version, with classic, satirical humour and straight up comedy. I’m proud of everybody involved, cast and crew, and can’t wait for show week.”

The show will run each night at 7.30pm from Wednesday, May 23 until Saturday, May 26 in the Biggar Corn Exchange.

Tickets are available online at www.biggarcornexchange.org.uk and at Brownlies of Biggar (£10 adults and £8 for under 16’s. Parental discretion advised, 15+, some strong language). Warning: flashing lights in Act Two.

The amateur production of Yes, Prime Minister is presented by special arrangement with Samuel French Ltd.
