A TOTAL of nine acts took the stage at Peebles Ex-Servicemen’s Club recently for a charity Stars in Their Eyes singing contest.

Participants dressed as Tom Jones, Gloria Gaynor, Roy Orbison, Dean Martin, Eva Cassidy, Amy Macdonald, Biffy Clyro and Robbie Williams all in aid of Diskobility and Braintrust UK.

And Layla Anderson and Jeremy Sceats stole the show dressed as Kylie Minogue and Jason Donavan, performing their classic song ‘Especially For You’.

Organiser Layla Anderson said: “This was by far was the most memorable Stars in Their Eyes for me and will always be one of my all time greatest memories.

“Everyone in the room was extremely overjoyed when we were announced the winners and the excitement from myself and Jeremy was priceless.

“I am forever grateful to everyone who has performed or played a part in some way or another, as the show takes a lot of preparation and as always the hard work pays off.

“The money raised over the years has been put to great use.

“There was £1,043 raised from a recent coffee morning and from the evening and this will be split equally between Diskobility and Brainstrust UK.

“Thank you to all the acts who took part.

“We’d also like to thank David Donnelly Kay for hosting; Craig Murdoch for his dedicated support; Jacqueline Robb, Gordon Robb and all the gang from Diskobility for their help at the coffee morning and on the evening; photographers Lorna Noble, Lorna Skelly and Magdalena Banka for their brilliant skills capturing all those memorable moments; and all those who turned up on the evening and supported the event. We had a ball.”

Diskobility Peebles is a disco for young people with additional support needs and their carers.
