THERE were no Monday blues for two lucky people in Peebles who woke up to an unexpected windfall this week.

The Kittlegairy Avenue residents each won a four-figure sum from the People’s Postcode Lottery’s Daily Prize.

One lucky local scooped £1,000, while the second trebled their cash prize to £3,000 after playing with three tickets.

Offering her congratulations, People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Judie McCourt said: “Well done to both our winners who picked up a prize in Peebles today – I hope they have a ball spending the cash.”

A minimum of 32 per cent of ticket sales goes directly to charities. To date, players of the People’s Postcode Lottery have raised £310 million for 4,000 good causes across Great Britain and internationally.

The John Muir Trust is one good cause close to the winners that players have supported. The group received £18,950 in 2016 to extend an area of native woodland and increase biodiversity in Glenlude, located close to the Southern Upland way.
