THE Eastgate is throwing open its doors at the weekend to offer free taster sessions to Borderers of all ages.
On Saturday, the Peebles theatre will serve up a host of activities, including music, drama, jazz, tap and a marathon cycle.
The sessions begin at 10.30am when Frances Taylor will offer a half-hour burst of Rhythm Kids – fun music and dance for children aged18 months to three years.
This will be followed by family-friendly parachute games with Alex Saunders at 11.15am.
Then, at noon, Douglas Roberts will lead a session of Centrestage, a drama masterclass complete with costumes and props for children aged 10 and above, before Sara Boles rounds off the day with energetic dance tasters in jazz and tap for teens and adults from 1pm.
Alongside the taster sessions, there will also be face painting (£2.50), plus the chance to help a team of cyclists, led by the Eastgate’s Nicola Harrison, cycle continuously for five hours on turbo trainers outside.
A keen local mountain biker, Nicola will be pedalling hard to raise money for the Eastgate Development Project.
The Eastgate Theatre Open Day is on Saturday, August 11, from 10am to 3pm.
All taster sessions and events are free. For more information, call the box office on 01721 725777.
