PRINCIPALS from Peebles, West Linton and Biggar gathered last Saturday for their traditional Spurs Ride to Hopehead.

Peebles Cornet Gregor McGrath joined West Linton Whipman Adrian Jackson and Biggar Cornet John Scott for the annual conclusion to the festivals.

Stobo provided the perfect backdrop for the event once again, which sees the principals collect their engraved spurs.

And the traditional tipple from the customary quaich is also enjoyed by all supporters during the ceremony.

Following a scenic alfresco lunch each party retraces its steps home.

A total of 20 riders made the journey from Peebles, along with 12 from West Linton and 14 from Biggar.

John Scott, Biggar Cornet said: "The Spurs ride is one of the highlights of the year for many of us and it didn't disappoint, even the weather was fantastic.

"It was great to meet up with Peebles and West Linton along with their followers at Stobo and carry out the traditional exchanging of Spurs with Gregor and Adrian.

"I'm already looking forward to next year which will mark the 20th Anniversary since the ride began."
