AFTER overseeing the most ambitious period in Eildon Housing Association's history chairman Trevor Burrows has stood down.

Mr Burrows handed over the reins to Dave Alexander at the social housing provider's AGM earlier this month.

The well attended 45th annual meeting allowed the outgoing chair to give an overview of the organisation's most recent achievements, highlighting the continued financial strength and the progress made with the new build programme.

Hundreds of homes are currently being built by Eildon across the Borders to ease social housing waiting lists.

The chairman described how Eildon is in the midst of its largest ever growth period and is working to a highly ambitious business strategy.

Mr Burrows said: "The quality of the new homes being built continues to increase with an emphasis on energy efficiency and anti-fuel poverty measures are becoming increasingly integrated.

"A range of national awards and recognition that the Eildon Group have been achieved over the past year, including being commended as the Housing Association of the Year."

Mr Burrows, who has now completed four years as Eildon’s chairman, announced his decision to retire from and congratulated his successor, Dave Alexander.

Mr Burrows informed members that Mr Alexander, formerly Eildon’s vice chairman, brought with him a wealth of knowledge and experience and would be a perfect fit to take over the helm and wished him every success.

Mr Alexander said: “Following in Trevor’s footsteps as Chairman is a tall order.

"He has led Eildon’s Board for four years with dedication, skill and good humour.

"Being asked to take over the role of chairing Eildon’s Board through an exciting and challenging period of growth is an honour and a privilege.”
