Peebles runner Susan Ridley came a creditable second in a tough mountain race in Poland.
She crossed the line 20 seconds behind Spanish runner Marcia Garcia in the event at the European Masters Mountain Running Championships in Ludwikowice Klodzkie.
During the 9.5k race participants were required to climb 571m up the Great Owl Mountain.
The eventual winner opened up a gap on the downhill stretch which Susan almost clawed back in the final 2k climb. The only other Scot in the race, Jane Waterhouse, finished third.
Susan was honoured to be given the task of reading the athletes’ oath in English at the opening ceremony. She later thanked Club Tweeddale for their valued support.
