Hall’s, keepers of one of Scotland’s oldest haggis recipes, is to stage a Guinness World Records official attempt to create the largest haggis, to be displayed at this year’s Royal Highland Show.

2014 is the Official Year of the Haggis and Hall’s, who were taken over by family run Brown’s Food Group in 2013 and sponsor Biggar Rugby Club, has decided to attempt to achieve a Guinness World Records title.

The haggis will be unveiled at the annual celebration of Scottish farming, food and countryside.

Players from Biggar Rugby Club got together on the pitch to help Hall’s attempt to kick the current Guinness World Records title into touch. Set on May 23, 2009, the weight to beat is just over half a ton, with measurements of 7ft in length, 3ft in width, 1ft 9in in height and 6ft in circumference.

Hall’s will make and cook their Guinness World Records attempt at their North Berwick premises before transporting the giant haggis in a bespoke truck through the streets of Edinburgh to the Ingliston showground.
