IF you speak to anyone from the agricultural show circuit they will tell you Biggar is the best in Scotland.

And this year’s spectacle of everything good about rural life looks like it could be the biggest and best yet.

Thousands of spectators will flock to the Show Field on Edinburgh Road on Saturday, July. 19 And organisers are already reporting a huge number of entries.

As well as the normal livestock and equine classes there will be a craft marquee, a dog show, dozens of trade stands and the highly-competitive Ladies Industrial judging.

The day-long fun starts at 8am with a morning of judging in the marquees and pens.

Highland dancing and pony jumping will take centre stage around lunchtime before the main gymkhana and mounted fancy dress.

The Grand Parade will again be held at 2pm before the eagerly anticipated trophy presentations.

And throughout all of the day there will be children’s entertainment and a fun fair.

A cycle stunt team will also perform in the main ring and there will be a birds of prey demonstration.

Musical entertainment will be provided by the Pipe Band as well as Koda.

And an After Show Disco is planned for 9pm in the marquee.

It continues to get bigger and better every year, so make sure you don’t miss Biggar Show.

There is free parking at the Showfield and a courtesy bus will run from Biggar High Street throughout the day.
