THE number of reported incidents of children being bullied in the region’s schools continues to fall, according to Scottish Borders Council.
In response to a Freedom of Information request, the council says that of the three incidents reported in 2015/16, two took place in secondary schools and the other in an un-named primary.
This compares to five in 2014/15 (four secondary, one primary) and 17 in 2013/14 (seven secondary, 10 primary).
Over these three years, not a single incident of cyber or on-line bullying was reported, states the council.
However, the FoI response reveals that in 2015/16 seven requests to change schools were made on behalf of pupils who mentioned bullying as a reason.
This compares to 11 such requests in 2014/15 and 17 requests in 2013/14.
In each case over the past three years, the placing request was granted.
