BORDERS MSP Christine Grahame met with campaigners from the Borders branch of the Women Against State Pension Inequality (WASPI) campaign on Sunday.
The group were rallying outside the Scottish Parliament to campaign to have transitional arrangements put in place by the UK Government to help those women who have had their pension age raised at short notice.
Ms Grahame told us: "Millions of women born in the 1950s have spent years paying into their pensions and planned their retirement based on what they were previously told.
"Many of these women were never informed of the changes to their retirement age and are now facing receiving their state pension years later than they expected to.
"I recognise the need to equalise the retirement age for men and women, however to do so so abruptly with no transitional arrangements is simply unacceptable and leaves women at a financial disadvantage," she added.
"I commend the work of the volunteers at WASPI in bringing this to the fore and call on the UK Government to listen, take heed and redress the wrong done to these women."
