MEMBERS of Peebles' March Riders Association saddled up for their first ride of the year recently.

And the group's Easter walk/trot on April 22, was well attended with a total of 39 riders.

Committee member Becca Lumsden said: "The Edderston Trophy for best turned out junior member went to Evelyn Whitehead and her pony Solly. Many thanks to John and Margaret Falla for judging."

The Association will hold two other events this month, the first being the May Dance in Peebles Rugby Club next Friday (May 18) at 7.30pm.

The dance will be attended by this year's Cornet-Elect Gregor McGrath and his Lass Loryn Paterson.

Presentations will include the Kenneth Hope Memorial Crop, the Merit Shield and Helen Cleghorn Memorial Quaiche. Tickets for the event, priced at £8 and £5, can be purchased from any committee member.

Later this month, the Cornet Elect and Lass will lead the May Ride.

Kicking off at 10am in the East Station car park on Sunday, May 20, the cavalcade will ride along Peebles High Street, over the hills to Eddleston, before returning via the High Street at around 4pm.
