A SPATE of rural housebreakings has sparked an appeal for witnesses by police.
Officers are asking Borders residents to contact them if they have seen a red Ford transit panel van acting suspiciously in any towns, villages or near a farm.
Police believe the red van may be linked to a number of rural farm thefts across Midlothian and East Lothian between May 24 and 30.
Anyone who spots any suspicions circumstances is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101.
