SCOTTISH squash star Frania Gillen-Buchert visited a primary in Peeblesshire ahead of her appearance at the Commonwealth Games this summer.
Newlands Primary School was one of only around 100 schools in Scotland to receive a VIP visit through the Athletes in Schools programme run by Game On Scotland.
Frania is due to compete at squash for Scotland in the 2014 Commonwealth Games to be held in Glasgow. She was happy and enthusiastic about meeting pupils in primary four to seven on Monday, March 31.
She told the children lots of fun and interesting facts about her sport and what life is like in the Commonwealth Village.
She explained there is a 24-hour food hall with food from all the different nations taking part.
Frania was born in South Africa but her dad is Scottish. She started squash when she was aged five and began playing tournaments when she was aged 11.
All staff and pupils wished her well for the Games in Glasgow.
