THE final event in the Borders Sport and Leisure Triathlon Series – Eyemouth – takes place on Sunday, September 21.

The series, which includes six triathlons: Galashiels, Selkirk, Peebles, Hawick, Kelso and Eyemouth; and two duathlons (Tweedbank and Peebles), has attracted tremendous support from local Borders athletes and participants from further afield.

The final event at Eyemouth will feature a main sprint triathlon and also a “come and tri” shorter course for new participants. It will comprise a 750m swim (400m for come & tri), 20.65km cycle (9.74km for come & tri) and 5km run (2.5km for come & tri).

Ewan Jackson, chief executive of Borders Sport and Leisure said: “This year’s Triathlon Series has yet again been a great success. Virtually every event has run at capacity demonstrating the increasing levels of interest in this sport.

"Participating in a triathlon is demanding but is also great fun and so very rewarding. The come and tri sessions are proving really valuable in introducing newcomers to the sport and I’d like to thank everyone involved in the organisation of this year’s events. It is their efforts and the fabulous welcome they give competitors, that has led to the BSLT Triathlon Series being so highly regarded.” Currently leading the overall triathlon series is Craig Dale and Jane Holmes in the sprint event. Currently leading the overall come and tri event is: David Collins and Judith Hargreaves.
