TWO fundraisers from the Borders were riding high after completing a sponsored ride out.
Claire Garnett, from Manor, and Lynda Mays, from St Boswells, completed the Monarch of the Glen sponsored ride on Spey-side - where television series the ‘Monarch of the Glen’ was filmed.
They set themselves the target of riding round all the major Lochs & Estates in Western Badenoch over five days.
The once in a lifetime experience visited some very unique and secluded places in the Cairngorm and Monadhliath Mountains on a challenging and spectacular route.
Twelve riders took part, raising much needed funds for the newly formed Cairngorms RDA, a charity in the process of being established in Newtonmore to allow local adults and children with disabilities or learning difficulties to have access to horses and ponies as a means of therapy, achievement and enjoyment. Claire and Lynda, riding Lynda’s two Highland ponies, Lass and Albus, very much enjoyed the week and between them raised over £1,000. Many thanks to everyone who sponsored them and helped to make a real difference to the success of the new RDA group.
