Ms Davidson became deputy chief executive for NHS Borders in 2013, and has been interim chief executive since January 2015.

Chairman of NHS Borders, John Raine, said: “I am delighted to announce Jane’s appointment as chief executive.

“Jane has successfully come through a rigorous and open selection process and her appointment has been welcomed by the whole Board. I am confident that, under her executive leadership and with her passion for working alongside patients, carers and staff the services that we provide to the people of the Borders will continue to improve.” Talking about her appointment, Ms Davidson said: “NHS Borders is a fantastic place to work.

“As an organisation, I am proud to say that we are fortunate to have dedicated staff who want to help take us forward to be the best we can be for our patients and carers. I am privileged to have worked here for the past five years and am eager to build on the great work that we do.”
