A FREE all-day party is being planned in Peebles - to celebrate the Eastgate Theatre’s 10th birthday at the weekend.

And everyone is invited.

Intriguing installations, magical music and dramatic dance will go on all day on Saturday, April 19.

And there are opportunities for families to join in workshops including Zumba at 10am, singing or storytelling at 11am (and 2pm), circus skills at 12noon and the incredible loud drumming workshop at 3pm.

During the day, the building will be transformed as artists paint pillars, lifts and stairs become artworks and the café becomes the stage.

Visitors can also drop in to a print making workshop or even try a bit of modelling with clay before and after helping to blow out the candles at 1.30pm.

Back in 2004 community determination, commitment and fundraising built the Eastgate. Since then it has been at the centre of the community giving the people of Peebles, the Borders (and much further afield) the opportunity to express themselves, discover their own creativity and just see great shows.

To help celebrate the 10 years the theatre wants to hear your Eastgate stories. Bring them in write them down and attach them to the comments tree, it will be waiting to burst into life.

The “Ten out of 10” party is also the launch event of Peebles Creative Place 2014, the programme of creative work that will take art into public spaces, work places, pop-up venues and private houses across Peebles throughout 2014. And, next weekend, you will be able to find out some of the many different ways you can become involved.
