THE Eastgate Arts and Craft Centre in Peebles is playing host to a Pop-Up Fair of beautiful handmade goods and produce selected from Edinburgh’s unique Treasure Trove shop between 10am and 2pm on Thursday, June 5. Admission is Free.

All the handmade goods are made by the charity’s members who are able to sell the items through the shop to add a little extra to help supplement their income. Items include stunning traditional smocked dresses and tartan wear such as pinafores for girls and trousers and waistcoats for boys also beautifully hand knitted baby clothes.

Members from as far afield as Orkney and Shetland are busy knitting adult and childrens’ Runic and Aran sweaters and jerseys as well as Fair Isle gloves, berets, brooches, tea cosies and cotton knits for summer. Children’s toys such as the ever-popular Beatrix Potter characters, Postman Pat, nurses and ballerinas alongside irresistible and traditionally-made teddy bears – will be on sale.

If you can’t see what you want – special orders can be made at the Fair or through the city centre shop.

Take the opportunity to stock up your larders or pick up a treat for afternoon tea at the home-produce stall which will feature the fruits of so many Members’ labours.

New members are being actively sought by the charity whose aims are to assist those with limited means or needy circumstances by promoting the sale of their own handiwork.

If you are interested, or if you know of anyone in the Peebles area who could benefit from selling handicrafts through the Treasure Trove to help pay the bills, please come and talk to one of our helpful shop staff at the Eastgate on Thursday, June 5 or contact the shop for more information.
