BEHIND every great man is a great woman.

And that saying goes for every Standard Bearer who has led St Ronan’s Border Games Week.

The Lasses added extra glamour to the festivities in Innerleithen again this year - with dazzling new outfits for every occasion.

Standard Bearer David Forrest was supported by his Lass Shannon Knox; Right Hand Man Robbie Scott was supported by his Lass Rachel Lauder; Left Hand Man Lyle Caine was supported by his Lass Zoe Taylor; and, before he stepped down2012 Standard Bearer Aaron Somerville was supported by his Lass Narelle Allan.

Reflecting on the festivities, Standard Bearer’s Lass, Shannon Knox, told the Peeblesshire News: “It’s been amazing, very overwhelming, but I’ve enjoyed every minute of it.” When asked what the Games were like from a Lasses’ perspective, she joked: “A pain when you have to get all your dresses sorted because I’ve never had to get so many shoes or dresses in my life.” But she added: “It’s good fun.” The Standard Bearer’s Lass bussed his Blue Banner at the Cleikum Ceremonies in the Memorial Hall, where it was standing room only, on Friday night.

Shannon said: “Tonight (Friday) was the big night so we were nervous earlier but it’s all gone well.

“It’s nice to see all the other Principals supporting us as well, as we’ve done to them.

“It’s gone so fast, this whole week, and the ball was absolutely amazing.”
