AS the new Borders Railway flies into action, Innerleithen-based apple juice producer Cuddybridge Apple Juice is celebrating this landmark occasion with its largest ever order for 600 bottles of apple juice being served up to VIPs and lucky competition winners.
The Borders Railway, which is the longest new domestic railway to be constructed in Britain for over 100 years, was officially opened by Her Majesty The Queen on Wednesday, the day she became Britain’s longest serving monarch. Cuddybridge Apple Juice was served to guests at the royal celebration in Abbotsford House.
Graham Stoddart, who runs Cuddybridge Apple Juice, said: “The new railway is a momentous occasion for the Borders and we are really excited to be part of the celebrations. It’s our biggest ever order so we have been working hard to produce all the apple juice! We hope everyone enjoys the celebrations, especially Her Majesty The Queen, and we look forward to making the most of the new railway.”
Cuddybridge Apple Juice is hand produced in small batches by Mr Stoddart and his wife who jointly run the company. It is free from flavourings, colourings, stabilisers and has no added water.
The company produce Braeburn, Pink Lady and Granny Smith varieties in 330ml or 750ml bottles and an Apple and Sea Buckthorn juice in a 250ml bottle.
Cuddybridge Apple Juice began in 2007 and since then, has gone on to win numerous awards including two stars at the Great Taste awards the Foodservice and Retail Product (non-alcoholic drink) categories at the Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards in 2012 and 2014 respectively.
