FANCY a cream tea on the Queen?

Organisers of this weekend's Innerleithen Family Day are currently baking hundreds of scones for a belated birthday bash to celebrate Her Majesty's 90th.

And they will give away the first 200 for free.

Keith Belleville from the organising committee said: "We already had a packed day of entertainment planned but we were awarded funding to mark the Queen's birthday and we couldn't think of a better way to celebrate."

As well as the tea, scones, cream and jam, there will be a large variety of stalls and attractions, including a mini fun fair and inflatables, pony rides, face painting, raffles, tombola and a delicious cake and candy stall.

Sunday's event, which is organised by St Ronan's Silver Band in partnership with Innerleithen Community Trust, will also host the ever popular Innerleithen Welly Wanging Championships with prizes for all ages.

The popular children's pet competition will also return this year, with judging at 3pm.

Mr Belleville added: "Innerleithen Family Day is always great fun but this year will be even more special with the Queen's birthday celebrations."

Music during the Fun Day will be provided by the pipe and silver bands and there will be Caldwell's Ice Cream, refreshments and burgers.

There will also be a car boot sale (bookings to 0777 555 7156 or KJBelleville@aol.com - £10 per car) running throughout the afternoon.

Innerleithen Family Fun day will take place on Sunday from 1pm to 5pm at St Ronan's School.
