A MOTORCYCLIST has suffered a serious leg injury in a road accident in Innerleithen on Friday.

The incident happened on Pirn Road at 4:30pm when he collided with a Vauxhall Insignia.

The accident comes just weeks after a motorcyclist was killed on the A72 around eight miles away near Clovenfords, after colliding with a tractor and trailer.

And it also follows another accident where a motorcyclist was seriously injured on the A707 last month, between Selkirk and Peebles.

A Police Spokesman said: The Police were called to the incident on the A72, Pirn Road in Innerleithen, near the entrance to Nether Pirn Farm at 4:30pm on Friday.

"The Ambulance attended and the motorcyclist, who was travelling North, suffered a serious leg injury, but is not life threatening. The driver of the car, travelling south, was unharmed.

"The motorcyclist was taken to Borders General Hospital.

"The road was closed in both directions and one lane reopened again at 5pm."
