ST RONAN'S school is set to turn 60 later this year.

And ambitious celebrations are planned to mark the milestone.

Current pupils at the Innerleithen primary will be delving into the archives to bring the history of the school alive.

To help them with the project a special St Ronan's Antiques Roadshow is being held later this month.

All ex-pupils and staff are invited to take photos, artefacts and other items of interest to the event on Friday, September 15.

Headteacher Keith Belleville told us: "We are looking for any old photos or other memorabilia from across the period from 1957 that would help the children to learn about the past.

“I know that there will be lots of interesting photos out there and we would also love to see items of uniform, report cards or anything else that might be of interest."

The school will either borrow items for a display or be happy to photograph or scan them and give back on the day.

If any ex-pupils or staff members are also willing to share their memories of the school, there will be an opportunity to do this on the day as well.

Mr Belleville added: “Collecting and interpreting evidence from the past, then presenting the findings are key skills that we want to develop in the children and our 60th anniversary provides a real-life context for the learning."

St Ronan’s School Antiques Roadshow will be open from 10am to 1pm with tea and coffees provided.
