AS part of the 150 year celebrations a special BBC style Songs of Praise is being planned in Innerleithen church for Sunday.

It is not a service, as such, nor a concert, but an opportunity for people who love music to enjoy a jolly good sing to some of the best hymns and tunes.

The singing will be led by Tweed Valley Male Voices, providing harmonies and also a couple of anthems, augmented by a specially formed extra choir to balance the parts, with singers from the church choir, along with voices from other churches and other choirs taking part.

Helen Furness from Innerleithen Church said: "It would be good to see the church full on Sunday evening.

"There may not be any BBC cameras, but everyone can enjoy an evening of praise and fellowship – and a jolly good sing!"

The Songs of Praise evening starts at 7pm, with the programme split in two parts and a break for refreshments.

Helen added: Everyone is welcome, whether singers, or just listeners.

"Come along, help to raise the roof, and make the hills round Innerleithen alive with music."
