INNERLEITHEN Pipe Band and St Ronan’s Silver Band played to a large crowd that had gathered on the High Street to enjoy almost an hour of musical entertainment.
The bands had moved west of their usual stances this year.. The Pipe Band, under the direction of Pipe Major Bruce Gillie, rendered a variety of stirring pipe sets, including Green Hills of Tyrol and The Battle’s o’er, Muckin’ of Geordie’s Byre, Bonnie Dundee, Steamboat and Cock of the North.
Meanwhile, the Silver Band, conducted by bandmaster David Robb, played a selection of tunes including Bonnie Leithen Vale, Rock Around the Clock and St Ronan’s MMX.
Both bands combined to perform the ever-popular “Highland Cathedral”. The Silver Band played the evening hymn, “The Day Thou Gavest” before the massed bands marched off to the old favourite, “Scotland the Brave”.
