TALENTED young musicians ensured there was a home success in the Innerleithen Youth Brass Band Contest.
St Ronan’s Future Band took the gold for the second year in a row in the novice section of the competition involving 10 bands from across the Borders, Dumfriesshire and the Lothians.
Conducted by David Robb, the Innerleithen youngsters claimed the first prize ahead of Galashiels Youth and Penicuik Youth in the event at St Ronan’s School.
Mr Robb said: “I am delighted that we have managed to retain the title. The band worked hard and deserved their success.” The adjudicator, well-known Scottish trombonist David Frame, placed Whitburn Youth first in the development section and in the preparatory section first place went to Galashiels Youth.
