ENVIRONMENTAL health officers have been called in to investigate in a Borders town after complaints that rubbish is hampering a disabled access.
Innerleithen Community Council was told Scottish Borders Council’s environmental health department is compiling a report on an area of land near Keddie’s garage behind the butcher’s shop in High Street, Innerleithen.
“There have been complaints that tyres, asbestos, oil and other stuff from the garage is just being dumped on community land,” said Tweeddale East councillor Gavin Logan. “I’ve gone to have a look for myself and it’s disgraceful.” “A resident complained that he has a disabled relative who can’t get past all the rubbish to get into the house.
“We will have to see what the report says - but I have to say it doesn’t look great.”
