Innerleithen is keen to grab a slice of the cash available to promote the Borders railway.
Scottish Borders Council is offering up to £2,500 to each community to spend on something connected to the new railway. Community councillor Neil Cummings has got together with Innerleithen Civic Trust chairman Ross McGhin to ensure the town uses its share of the money.
“We felt that rather than go down the planting line - we’d look at doing graphics and signage with a railway theme,” said Mr Cummings. “Ross said there’s so much history we could include, that we have plenty to go on.”
