A PEEBLES restaurant is still cooking up a storm in the kitchen after retaining its Michelin award.

Osso Restaurant, on Innerleithen Road, has kept its Bib Gourmand Award from Michelin for the sixth consecutive year.

The news of the award being retained follows a very successful year for owner Ally. The chef was whisked away into the TV limelight in August, featuring on the Great British Menu on BBC Two.

Speaking of the award, Ally McGrath told the Peeblesshire News: "We're delighted to retain the award which we first received it in 2011, and have managed to retain it ever since.

"It means an awful lot to us, to show that we are consistently keeping our standards up at the high levels Michelin expect over these years is an incredible feat by me and my team.

"I still get very nervous at this time of year, just before the guide comes out. I try not to think about it the rest of the year, just enjoy it! The customers have been very kind with their praise, we have had a lot of congratulations on the back of it again this year."

Following the news, diners are assured that no major changes will be happening on the menu, with the same award-winning service the restaurant offers.

Ally added: "It tops off a great year for me, with my appearance on Great British Menu earlier in the year as well it's been quite full on. Plus things in Osso have been really really busy, it's going great.

"I knew my appearance on the Great British Menu would be popular but on Saturday night, the restaurant was at an exceptionally high level that we weren't really expecting.

"It's also helped on our market stalls with the sausage rolls, it's funny how many people have watched the programme and want to talk to you about it."

Looking ahead to the future, Ally said: "We've nothing in the pipeline yet for any appearances at food festivals etc., we're still just trying to catch up and get the things I had in the pipeline before the show done and dusted before we agree to more things."
