WORK to improve the footpath on Tweed Bridge in Peebles will get under way this weekend.
The old pavement is set to be removed and replaced on the east side of the bridge between Sunday, October 9 and Saturday, October 15.
The path will be closed from 7.30am to 4pm each day, when pedestrians will be diverted down Port Brae.
On Sunday, temporary three-way traffic lights will be in place at the Old Parish Church roundabout but traffic disruption for the rest of the week is expected to be minimal.
Councillor Gordon Edgar, Executive Member for Roads and Infrastructure said: "This work is important but the Council realises there may be some disruption. We've put plans in place to minimise this but apologise for any inconvenience."
Parking will be suspended on the bridge and outside the church for the duration of the works.
This has been programmed to take place during the October holidays in an attempt to minimise disruption.
