PEEBLES is set to light up again, as the Hogmanay Torchlight Procession returns for a second year on New Year's Eve.

Residents are encouraged to get involved and purchase the torches, with proceeds from sales going to the charities in the area.

The parade of fire will shimmer its way through the streets of Peebles, bringing warmth and fun to the cold winter night.

Food and drink will be on sale in the High Street, with festive music for all to ring in the new year.

Director of Hillside Outside Neil Dalgleish said: "Last year’s inaugural Torchlight Procession was a great success, and really helped lift people’s spirits after the terrible flooding.

"The parade of flames winding it’s way round the high street and river was truly stunning, and there was a lovely atmosphere.

"We were delighted to be able to support the Peebles Youth Trust and the Peeblesshire and District Round Table last year - more details on this year’s beneficiaries soon!"

Torches will be available online at www.peeblestorchlight.com from 9am on Friday, October 28.
