A PEEBLES priest is still trying to drum up donations, as he looks to raise the grand total needed to record an album.

Reverend Jim Benton Evans, 47, launched his fundraising bid in September with a preview gig to showcase his songs at St Peter’s Church.

His inspiration to record his collection of songs came after a brief sabbatical earlier this year.

He needs a final £250 to raise, in order to archive his £1,000 goal to record an album.

The rector told the Peeblesshire News: “I’ve been overwhelmed and really rather humbled by people’s support, encouragement and enthusiasm for the project. It’s tremendously exciting to be so close and I have booked initial dates in the studio for a few weeks time.

“I’d like to thank all those who have contributed and offered support and guidance.

“For those who are keen to follow the progress of the project, there’s a new Facebook page, Reverend Jim, that people can like – and it will have regular updates.

“I’ll also be looking for places to play the album live, so if anyone local or further appeal would like to chat about a gig, it would be great if they got in touch with me.
