KINGSLAND Primary School has scored top marks after winning national ‘Digital School’ status for digital technology in teaching and learning.

The Neidpath Road school is the first in the Borders to receive an award of this type, which recognises their work on digital technology in the classroom.

The educational facility was one of 22 primary schools from cities and towns across Scotland which collected the accolade at a ceremony in Glasgow earlier this month.

Head teacher Jacqueline Wilson said: "At Kingsland we work together to be the best that we can be by sharing what we are good at and helping others, which is exactly what our Digital Leaders do. Becoming a Digital School has enabled our pupils to lead digital learning across Kingsland and share their knowledge and skills with parents and teachers.

"We are delighted to be a Digital School and look forward to building on this success over the coming months."

Shirley-Anne Somerville, Minister for Further Education, Higher Education and Science, added: "This programme positively impacts upon pupils’ motivation to learn as well as recognising achievement by teachers and schools in advancing the integration of technology in the classroom. I commend all the primary schools receiving their digital schools award on their great achievement."

Kingsland is now among 43 Scottish primary schools that are recognised for their excellence in digital teaching and learning.
