A ROADSHOW event is set to roll into Peebles today (Monday, April 16).

The Ability Roadshow, hosted by local disability charity Ability Borders, will hold a free independent living event at the Gytes Leisure Centre.

Residents are invited to come along and find out more about a range of topics, including: housing adaptations, the warm homes initiative, benefits, aids and equipment, support groups, transport and learn about the Scottish Borders physical disability strategy.

Representatives from Borders Care Voice, the Tweeddale Access Panel, Changeworks, RBS and the community capacity building team will be on hand to handle any queries from members of the public.

Ability Borders said: “During the first two hours of the roadshow, there will be a number of quick 10-minute presentations from the groups and organisations. There will be lots of breaks and opportunities for questions.

“During the last hour, you will be able to look around the stalls in the style of a market place. You can speak to the groups and organisations joining us on the roadshow and find out more about what’s in your area.

“You will also have a chance to give your views on the new Borders physical disability strategy produced by the Health and Social Care Partnership.

“Individuals can book for the presentations only, drop in to the market place at the end, or attend the whole thing, it’s up to you.

“We promise you a very friendly and welcoming environment – and refreshments will be available.”
