AFTER being without a place to call home for so long, Peebles Baptist Church, looks finally set to get a new home.

Following 27 years without a permanent residency, the church is close to building their new home in the 'King's Meadow', in the southern part of the town.

Since a survey of the community back in 2016 which asked people what they felt was needed, the church believes that the plans for the new church will provide a much needed facility on the south side.

To coincide with the first of their summer community barbecues on Sunday, May 27, the church will also be urging locals to come along and give their feedback to a new set of proposals, before they are submitted to SBC.

The event will be on the church’s land at the Kings Meadow Community Garden, which is at the side of Victoria Park beside Cleland Avenue.

An open-air service will take place at 11am, followed by the barbecue between 12 and 2pm.

Ian Gray, pastor of the Baptist Church said: “We’re excited to be moving forward with this project, which is all about being good news on the south side of Peebles.

“We’d love to think what people think about our proposals, before we submit plans to the Council for approval.”
