MORE local women are being urged to come forward to join a running group and do their bit for charity.

Known as the Pink Panters the group began a 5 x 50 challenge on Sunday, March 30, with a five-mile run along the railway path from Innerleithen to Peebles.

“I see this as a great training aid to my 2014 challenges raising the profile of fragile x syndrome and funds for the society,” said group member Gillian McDonald. “As this was also Mothers’ Day we treated ourselves to breakfast afterwards in Ramblers.” Susan Stewart, another member of the Pink Panters, is undertaking 50 challenges before she reaches the age of 50 to raise funds and increase awareness for organ donation.

The Pink Panters meet at Kingsmeadow Car Park on Saturdays at 9am and Tuesdays at 6.15pm. Anyone interested in joining should contact Miriam Adcock on 07966 035630.
