A PEEBLES man involved in a bust up with his partner over dirty dishes has been ordered to be of good behaviour for four months.

Konrad Biernacki, 28, appeared at Peebles Sheriff Court for sentencing after pleading guilty to a charge of domestic assault.

Biernacki had punched his partner on the left side of her face after an argument between them had escalated, said Procurator fiscal depute Tessa Bradley.

He had been upset at coming home to discover that the house was untidy and that dishes had not been washed.

Defence lawyer Matt Patrick said: “My client and his partner were in a long-term relationship and this was a highly unusual incident - nothing like this before had happened between them.

“He’s in full-time employment and has shown an appropriate level of remorse.

“He’s prevented living in his family home because of the bail conditions and has arranged alternative tenancy in Peebles.

“He hopes their relationship will get past this and he intends to return and make tentative steps if she’s of a similar mind.” Sheriff John Halley decided he would alter the bail conditions to allow Biernacki to see his partner and deferred sentencing until November 26.

“Normally you want to draw a line over this but I want to place the onus on you to demonstrate that your relationship is repaired,” he said.
