A FORMER Beltane Queen and her classmates have donated a bench to Peebles High Street.

Back in 2006, the Beltane class of 1956 celebrated its golden anniversary by entering a prize winning float in the fancy dress parade.

Following a class reunion, members decided that the ‘auld toon’ deserved a more lasting memory.

The group commissioned a seat which has now been installed on the High Street next to the Chambers Institute. It is for the use of all, particularly those like the Class of ‘56 who are around the three score years and ten.

A donation was also made to ‘Bonnie Peebles’ to help them with their good work.

It remains to be seen what the class will come up with for the 60th anniversary.
