A TOWN choir that has been entertaining residents for 31 years is appealing for new members.

Peebles Singers meet at Dovecot Court on Thursday evenings between 7.30pm and 9pm.

Membership includes singers of all ages and abilities. But musical director Isobel Morrison is particularly keen to attract more men.

The singers' repertoire includes a varied selection of music including light classical, Scots songs, songs from musical shows and songs of pop groups such as Abba and The Carpenters. “You could describe it as BBC Radio Two easy listening,” said Isobel.

The singers’ next large concert is its carol service at the MacFarlane Hall in Peebles on December 12.

Over the years the group has raised thousands of pound for charity and, as well as bigger concerts, is available for smaller gatherings in residential and nursing homes, as well as for guilds and rurals. There are no auditions to join and the ability to read music is not essential. For more information call Isobel Morrison on 01896 831924.
