THE Peebles High School senior student team and PTA celebrated the success of their summer fundraiser when it was revealed that the event had raised the sum of £2,114.

Headteacher Campbell Wilson said: “This is a wonderful fundraising total and is very much appreciated. There was a very positive atmosphere at the Burgh Hall on Saturday and our new senior student team equipped themselves very well.

“I would also like to thank all the parents, members of the public and the business community who worked so hard to make the event such a success.” The fundraiser, which was sponsored by Tesco, concluded with the drawing of the PTA Summer Raffle. Lesley Ireland, from Peebles, was the first prize winner and received £100 prize money. Second prize, £50 of rugby equipment donated by www.rugbystore.co.uk, was won by Ms Hamilton, a school teacher at Peebles High School. And Fiona Thoms, from Peebles, was delighted to discover that she was the recipient of the luxury gourmet hamper.

A spokesperson from the PTA said: “The PTA would like to thank the businesses who generously donated raffle prizes including Cringletie House Hotel, The Horsehoe Inn, The Retreat, Dawyck Gardens, Tigerlily, www.rugbystore.co.uk,Tesco, Caldwell’s Ice Cream, the Eastgate Theatre, Forsyth’s Butchers, William Lockie, The Gift Box, Dynamic Earth, The Museum of Flight, The Royal Yacht Britannia and Frankie and Benny’s.

“Special thanks to Liz White, Crowning Lady and her team of kitchen helpers who helped to serve Liz’s 'secret coffee recipe’! Thanks also to Peebles Scout Group for the use of their catering resources and West Linton Pipe Band who donated the books for the book sale. The PTA are also grateful to those businesses who promoted the raffle including Ross Dougal Fish Shop, The Crown Hotel, Spar, West Linton Post Office, Walkerburn Post office and Caldwell’s in Peebles and Innerleithen. “Finally, the PTA would like to thank the music students who kept everyone so well entertained and to everyone who pledged their support on the day.”
