A CRUNCH meeting over the future of Peeblesshire"s oldest inn will take place this week.
Developer James Doonan had hoped to turn the historic 400-year-old Crook Inn into housing.
But his planning application, and subsequent, appeal were turned down.
And the local community group, Tweedsmuir Community Company, have been given the right-to-buy under government legislation.
Planning consultants representing Mr Doonan have arranged the talks.
Andrew Mason from the action group told the Peeblesshire News: 'This will be our first proper contact with Mr Doonan"s representatives although we are not sure what will come from the meeting.'
Government ministers sided with Scottish Borders Council following an appeal hearing in Peebles last November.
But rumours coming from the local authority would suggest the developer may take his appeal to the Court of Session.
One insider told us: 'Council lawyers believe an appeal to the Court of Session could be made regarding the Crook Inn.'
