IF cats really do have nine lives, then Peeblesshire puss Misty is working her way rapidly through them.
The two-year-old cat, who survived four weeks locked in a shed last year, arrived home in Bonnington Road on Friday after being missing for more than 42 days.
The Peeblesshire News led an appeal for information about the cat"s whereabouts last month, but no one had spotted the mystery moggy.
Owner Corrine Regan was shocked to find Misty sitting outside the window of her house on Friday night.
She told the Peeblesshire News: 'We hadn"t heard anything for six weeks, so we"d given up hope to be honest, but on Friday night I went into the kitchen to switch the light off, and she was just sitting outside the French windows peering in.'
The black and white cat had lost over a kilogram in weight, but has been checked over by a vet who said the cat could have survived on only water or the occasional mouse.
She was found in a neighbour"s shed last year after staying alive by licking the condensation from the inside of the windows.
Corrine added: 'I don"t know where she"d been. She was very hungry and thirsty, and smelled a bit musty, as if she might have been trapped somewhere again.
"She"s being quite cautious now, and not wandering too far from the house. We"re very happy and relieved to have her back.'
