HAYLODGE Community Hospital is the latest facility in the region to be hit with the winter vomiting bug.
The hospital was forced to close ward two after two patients began to display symptoms of the norovirus, also known as the winter vomiting bug.
Three wards remain closed at the Borders General Hospital in Melrose after a number of patients were suspected to be suffering from the virus.
Symptoms of the virus include nausea, headaches and a raised temperature, and NHS Borders has requested that anyone who has experienced symptoms associated with the Norovirus within the past 48 hours not to visit Haylodge.
Visitors are asked to go straight to the wards and not to move around other areas of the hospital
The health board also stated that the use of sanitising gels and hand-washing will be strictly enforced in all wards.
Dr Ross Cameron, Medical Director, said: "Our primary concern is the healthcare of our patients and staff. They are all aware that we need to impose these rigorous control measures to manage the situation and we strongly advise visitors to follow this advice to help prevent further spread of the virus."
There has been a sharp rise in the number of cases of the Norovirus across the whole country, but doctors are keen to stress that the majority of people affected by the bug make a full recovery.
