Tetra Acoustics director Andrew Muir in the showroom that was broken into last weekend.
A PEEBLES businessman has told of his despair after thieves made off with over £4500 worth of stock.
Andrew Muir, director of home entertainment specialist Tetra Acoustics, said the break-in at the business’ Cavalry Park showroom last weekend was a real blow.
“At some point between Saturday night and Sunday morning the thieves managed to get in. At first they tried to get in through the roof and when that didn’t work they removed one of the windows.
“They took a pretty big haul of speakers, amplifiers, cables and stands.
“We are a small business with just two full-time members of staff and this is exactly what we don’t need. Not only do we have the loss of stock to contend with but there is also the repair work that needs to be done - we’ve got a hole in the roof now and a missing window that needs replaced.
“We’re not a big chain store, we just can’t afford this kind of thing in the middle of a recession. If this were to keep happening then we wouldn’t be able to keep going. It’s a big hit to a small company like us.”
A spokesperson for Lothian and Borders Police has appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
“Tetra Acoustics in Cavalry Park was broken into at some time between 3pm on Saturday 14 and 8am on Sunday 15.
"We would ask anyone who saw anything suspicious or has any information to contact Peebles Police Station.”

Not-a-grass? Name says it all really. Do you have no pride in your town and want to stop people committing crime in the area?
Do you have any idea the size of area Peebles police station covers? Over 300sq miles with four maybe five officers.
So maybe if certain people, instead of levelling criticism and talking about something they clearly have little knowledge in "helped" the local police they then wouldn't have to waste time and money on doing a protracted investigation.

Reel time, in that case I'm sure you'd agree the police shouldn't be wasting their time on Dolphinton straight, and should be out stopping REAL crimes like this, that are affecting livelyhoods!
